Research Associate – Entry Level
This position performs qualitative and quantitative research and logistical operations for the organization. Specific duties include general data collection and data entry for research projects, statistical analysis, report writing, development of tables and graphs, as well as other support functions as needed. Successful candidates possess a Bachelors degree in criminal justice, social science, public policy, or other related fields. Prior experience in research-based work and statistical analysis software packages is desirable.
Research Associate – Intermediate Level
Preferred candidates at the intermediate level have demonstrated skills that enable them to proficiently perform statistical analysis via database systems such as SPSS and Access. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, interviewing, survey construction, and grant and report writing. Candidates should possess advanced graduate degrees in social science, math, computer science, or public policy; however, those who have obtained equivalent knowledge via work experience will also be considered. An advanced understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods and statistical software packages is required.
Senior Research Associate
Senior Research Associates develop and execute projects as highly skilled professionals within criminal justice research or child protective services. This position requires substantial research experience in methodology, statistics, qualitative and quantitative analysis, process evaluation, and literature review. Routine tasks may include overseeing multiple research projects, data analysis, and report writing. Candidates must possess advanced writing, public relations, project management, and grantsmanship skills in order to be considered for this position. Individuals with Masters degrees or higher in social science, math, computer science, law, or public policy are encouraged to apply.
Senior Researcher
The successful candidate for the Senior Researcher position manages all aspects of research, project management, program development, data analysis, training, and report writing operations. Individuals employed at this level supervise multiple research projects, implement programs, and manage staff. Specific job duties may include securing sufficient funding for new projects to support the agency’s research, acting as a liaison between executive and junior staff, providing technical assistance to programs, engaging in public and professional networking opportunities to advance NCCD’s mission, implementing research and system design initiatives, and publishing articles in peer review journals or NCCD publications. A Masters degree or higher in social science, math, computer science, law, or public policy is required. Advanced writing, public speaking, project management, and grantsmanship skills are a must. In addition, the position requires demonstrated ability to supervise staff and assume a leadership role in project management.
